Join us for an intimate, multi-course family-style dinner event. Chef Lamour will share the signature techniques and stories of Levantine cuisine, which combines culinary traditions from this historical and geographical region along the eastern shores of the Mediterranean Sea.  Our meal will be served on large, communal platters, encouraging the shared spirit of a true Levantine home. Discover the aromatic, hospitality-driven cuisine of the Levant—the sun-drenched Eastern Mediterranean region. This cuisine celebrates fresh vegetables, fragrant spices like sumac and za'atar, and communal dining traditions that have nourished families for generations.

Learn to prepare a feast of authentic dishes that showcase the region's culinary diversity. Start with vibrant mezze, including Peasant Salad, smoky Charred Eggplant with garlic, lemon, and pomegranate, and Root Vegetable Slaw with tangy Labneh. Master Lamb Mansaf, Jordan's celebrated national dish featuring tender lamb over golden rice with jameed yogurt sauce—a dish traditionally served at weddings and special gatherings. Create Musakhan, Palestine's iconic sumac-spiced roasted chicken layered with caramelized onions, garlic, and pine nuts on traditional taboon bread. Make fresh Pita from scratch and finish with Layali Lubnans (Lebanese Nights)—an elegant dessert of semolina pudding, whipped cream, and crushed pistachios.

You'll learn essential techniques, including working with traditional spices, achieving perfect texture in grain dishes, and balancing the bright, bold flavors that define Levantine cooking. Discover the cultural stories behind each dish and gain the confidence to recreate this generous, flavorful cuisine at home.

Cooking Class Policies and Details

Welcome to the Hunt Hill Farm Cooking School! We are thrilled to have you join our community. To ensure everyone has a wonderful and smooth experience, please review the following details about our classes.

Registering for a Class

When you're ready to book, you'll find a field on the checkout page to input your gift certificate code if you have one. Your spot is officially reserved once you receive a confirmation email from our booking system. If it doesn't arrive in your inbox, please check your spam folder. Should you not receive a confirmation, please contact us at info@thesilo.org for assistance. We are always happy to help with any questions regarding the registration process.

Cancellation Policy

All class registrations at The Silo Cooking School are non-refundable. Your ticket is valid only for the specific class date and time purchased and cannot be transferred to a different class. As a small non-profit, we base important operational decisions, including staffing, on our attendance numbers.

If you find you cannot make it to your class, you are welcome to send someone in your place. Alternatively, you can purchase "Class Insurance" for $50. This option allows you to request a transfer to a future class of equal value if you are unable to attend and cannot find a substitute.

Gifting an Experience

A cooking class at The Silo is a wonderful gift for friends, family, or colleagues. To provide the best experience, we highly recommend purchasing a gift certificate instead of booking a specific class as a surprise. This avoids potential scheduling conflicts. As our classes are non-refundable, a gift certificate allows your recipient the flexibility to choose a date that works perfectly for their schedule, ensuring a delightful experience.

Dietary Restrictions and Accommodations

Please call us before you book a class to discuss any dietary needs. Many of our classes are vegetarian, pescatarian, or can be adapted with advance notice. We will do our best to accommodate other restrictions when we are notified ahead of time.

It is important to inquire about accommodations before registering, as we cannot guarantee that every class can be modified. Class registrations are non-refundable and cannot be moved to another date. Please be aware that our kitchen regularly uses dairy, gluten, and nuts, and we cannot assume responsibility for these or any other food allergies. Our kitchen is not certified Kosher.

Alcohol Policy

We serve two glasses of wine to complement the meal created in class. Please note that alcohol will only be served once the cooking portion is complete and we sit down to eat. Starting January 2025, guests will be welcome to bring their own bottle (BYOB).

The Meal

Every class concludes with a full, shared meal featuring the dishes you have prepared. Cooking can take time, so we suggest having a snack before you arrive to ensure you are comfortable while we create our delicious meal together.

Arrival and Departure Times

To ensure a seamless experience for all, please plan to arrive on time. Our classes begin promptly to allow enough time for preparation and dining. We cannot let guests in more than ten minutes before the scheduled start time, as our team is busy with essential preparations for the class.

The end time for each class is an estimate. The duration can vary based on the menu's complexity and the lively conversation around the dinner table! We encourage you to inform babysitters that you might be home a little later than planned. If you have a strict time constraint, please let our staff know when you arrive.

Inclement Weather Policy

Our commitment is to hold classes as scheduled, provided it is safe for our staff and guests. Classes will proceed as planned during minor weather events like rain or light snow.

In the case of severe weather conditions (such as heavy snow or other hazardous situations), we will reschedule the class and notify all participants via email. If a class is postponed due to weather, we will provide a make-up date. If you cannot attend the new date, please inform us within 48 hours of the announcement, and we will issue a gift certificate for the value of your class to be used at a future date.
